So addicted to Tsujiri that I come here a few times a week since they opened!
Having tried most of their menu items, I've concluded that their Canadian specials are meh. Had high expectations when I ordered their matcha black sesame latte but ended up very disappointed with the sugar overload. It was so sweet that I tossed out a third of the drink. Will stick to my favorite Tsujiri float!
Onto their cakes... Not sure if the matcha Mille Crepe Cake is another Canadian special or not, as I don't recall seeing it in Kyoto. Texture is okay but totally lacking sweetness. Felt like I was spooning matcha powder mixed into crepe stacks... If you're thinking Lady M, you're better off passing on this item! Or you'll end up being as disappointed as I am! Millie's make much better (and comparatively cheaper) crepe cakes! Tsujiri's $9.32 tax in.
If I feel like getting cake, I'll stick to the Chiffon Cake Sundae. The cake tends to be too dry on its own. Adding soft serve makes it moist and palatable. And the corn flakes give it an interesting texture.
The Tsujiri sundae is good too, except I don't enjoy the genmai (toasted brown rice) bits at the bottom. Shiratama doesn't measure up to Tsujiri's Japanese counterparts, order it if you must and see for yourself.
Short of change? They now take cash/debit.
