Absolutely incredible event! Walking in to an open porch on a beautiful day and being handed a watermelon mojito was a perfect start! I had never heard of Porch at Siena before the event and was very glad I came. I liked hearing Chef Kevin talk about his attention to detail to using fresh ingredients which makes such a difference in food. The diverse garden that is growing beside a restaurant which is in a shopping plaza is incredible. So creative to fit such a mix of plants subtly beside the restaurant and use it in their dishes. It was also great to hear about Kevin working with local farmers and farm share groups to receive fresh ingredients when possible!
The food sampling matched the fresh ingredient sampling. The veggie pizza with fresh zucchini on it was by far my favorite. Although I did enjoy the fresh honeycomb to eat with some of the cheese plates. The watermelon mojito tasted just like drinking a watermelon! And not that fake sweet thick watermelon mix but a legit light fresh watermelon.
As always, a great event doesn't happen without some great staff at Porch at Siena! My wife works only a few miles from here and we typically stop at the bundt cake store above for dessert. Now we found a place for dinner! Very cool restaurant concept with fresh ingredients and great attention to detail. Supporting local farmers is also a huge plus. Very glad to have attended great job to the staff at Porch and Rachel our community leader!
