  • My daughter is either psychic or totally jinxed us when she checked out "Bugs in My Hair" at the library three weeks ago. But, either way, at least we were slightly educated on the nightmare that is lice when the doctor discovered she had them this week. She recommended two things- buying the Terminator nit comb and going to Picky Pams. So, we ordered the comb, wasted money on some over the counter total crap, and proceeded to torture our child not really knowing what we were doing picking the nits out one by revolting one. My husband kept checking me and then last night we finally found one little jerk and, since my hair is halfway down my back and super dense, I knew we couldn't figure this out at home. So today my toddler and I headed over and met Hannah. My anxiety was boiling over wondering what my daughter would do while I sat in the chair for hours. My fears were a waste though - the shop is FULL of toys, books, games - I mean FULL with something in every room. She entertained herself for three hours - never even stopping to complain about lunch - and I totally lost track of time because Hannah was busy answering my forty million questions like the pro she is. And I don't use that word lightly. She was professional, polite, funny, nice, knowledgeable is an understatement, and she probably needs a raise. While my child was busy turning the place upside down she consulted on my best course of action, educated me on the home work, and treated my hair as quickly as she could. I especially enjoyed the dehydrator (basically a hand held hair dryer on steroids) which they only use on people 4 and up. The product (spray) I came home with IS expensive, but it also ACTUALLY KILLS lice. Not *maybe* kills like the also expensive OTC and prescription pesticides which most lice are resistant to now, totally kills them by destroying their exoskeletons in 7 seconds! It's also plant based and safe. Picky Pams was recommended by my amazing Ped and my school and I see why after today. If your child brings home the glorious gift of lice from school - don't even mess around with DIY. Get to the pickah!!!!
