| - We entered, we're acknowledged, asked if we wanted table or bar. I said table because I like my little 4 cornered-world, but ended up at the bar anyway because a table would have been a 15min wait. No thanks. Besides, the bar was full but we scored the end. I need my corners. Lol.
Sushi chef quickly acknowledged us and to let him know whenever we are ready he is. The way he moved told me he clearly is used to the busy pace. My Filipino counterparts, I do mean pace with a p. Hahahha.
Waitress and bus person were pretty quick about cleaning off our tables, refilling our water in a timely matter, and checking if we were all right without overly doing it. I can't stand when they overly cater. However, I can't say the same for the guy next to us because I swear he sat down and under a 1 minute 3 different people asked either what he would like to drink or if anyone came by to take his drink order. The first time he had to tell the waitress could he have a moment because he literally just sat down, literally. Proof experiences will vary.
AYCE pricing is pretty comparable to other AYCES. If you are a tourist staying along the strip looking for sushi, this place would surely pop up as your closest and best bet. Which is probably how they got all these reviews.
As for me, sushi wise....I wasn't impressed especially with such a rating in mind. I was simple this night...just wanted the hamachi kama (collar), garlic tuna, spicy ahi roll, and salmon skin roll.
My hamachi was wonderful! Moist and tender and did not need to dip it in the sauce it came with neither did I want to squirt the lemon it also was garnished with over it. My salmon skin roll was exactly that....thankfully, though salmon skin was not stale and chewy because I've certainly had my share of experiences of that happening.
The garlic tuna was great, but, I wish the chef didn't go overboard with the sauce causing my rice to break up leaving grains of it all over my plate. The spicy tuna was my least favorite and normally I like to order it whenever I try a new spot at because I feel like it's pretty basic. Easier to judge. Probably the 2nd worse spicy tuna I've eaten. Why?
While I understand spicy tuna is spicy....this was overly spicy. All I could taste was spice and lemon. I've never tasted lemon in my spicy tuna rolls. I ordered 2 orders of this so the spice was starting to get to me and the lemon juice they've squirted in was taking a toll on my stomach and taste buds. My husband thought I was being a little dramatic, so he started digging or shall I say helping me to conquer these rolls and he was able to realize that I was not wrong.
Oh, as for the hubs. Pretty disappointed in his uni. And if you read my reviews...the husband is almost never disappointed in food let alone uni!!! Speaks volume people, volume...lol.
We weren't able to stay as long as we normally do, but we did opt for dessert. I can't tell you what their green tea ice cream tasted like because it never came. We waited and waited...and I just go to the point that I wasn't going to waste my time asking nor wait any longer. I mean, I do have a clear idea of what green tea ice cream tastes like so wasn't a big deal. Kind of.
If you are staying or living nearby, I'd recommend them as a solid ayce. They are busy so embrace yourself in having to wait especially if you have a larger party. If you are a local, trust me...you aren't missing out on anything that your go-to sushi ayce can't so for you.
I do recommend NOT bringing in a stroller. If you need to, pray they aren't busy or plan to go to another place that is sure to accommodate your stroller(s).
