  • I love cold, creamy things coming into contact with my tastebuds and so I was excited to stop by Art of Flavors on a nice cruise down Las Vegas Boulevard from Downtown heading back to The Strip. The joint is located in a little strip mall with a few parking spots out front and is right next to Viva Las Arepas which I will hopefully visit on another Vegas sojourn. When I walked in, the place was empty and a gnarly-type of dude was behind the counter. He was extremely friendly, and when I told him it was my first time at Art of Flavors he excitedly told me all about the place, including that they get bored so often they just create brand new flavors every week. If you are like me and love trying crazy ass ice cream flavors, then this is probably a good bet for you. I asked him what his favorite flavors were and he proceeded to feed me like an Italian grandmother feeds her nipote. Before I could finish the current spoon, he had the next one ready for me. I probably tried eight or nine flavors before he got distracted by the coffee machine. Ultimately, I ended up getting Lavender Chocolate Chip + Basil Apple for my lady and Gorgonzola "DOP" & Balsamic + Hop Nuts Chocolate Moo Juice which is gelato based on a local beer. I have to say, EVERYTHING was AMAZING. If you love lavender, that Lavender Chocolate Chip brought that strong flavor out, balanced nicely by the chocolate chip. I also never realized how well basil and apple go together--it had the consistency of frozen apple sauce and was possibly my favorite of the four flavors. My gorgonzola and beer gelato unfortunately were the same color, so I had trouble telling them apart. The lady loved the gorgonzola and hated the beer--but I really dug the hops aftertaste. If you like the taste of beer, it was totally on point. That gorgonzola though, delizioso! In conclusion: Great customer service, wide variety of locally sourced flavors, and absolutely delicious tasting gelato with the right level of gelato consistency, (plus it's neither Downtown or on The Strip exactly so not a pain to get to), make this a winner. I will definitely be burying my face in their Flavors in the future.
