VIBE
I was intrigued by the name of this cafe. (And no, it's not in the most convenient location but it's a nice departure from the crowded, snobby mess that is the Yorkville Starbucks). I wonder if they got the name from the drug-laden movie starring Naomi Watts?
Anywho, it's all style in here. This two story shop (yay! two stories!) hits the right decor notes: the bright orange egg, laden chairs; the orange tiles, the wooden banquette seating flush with coffee bean bag pillows and more. It's nice to see attention paid to seating whereas competitors want an in-and-out crowd.
I was trying to read a book and thought that at 6 p.m. on a Wednesday night, it would be quiet. A few people came in an hour before closing and the chatter and not-quiet but not-loud music wasn't the most welcome sounds, but I'll try not to be a snot about it. I got the couch downstairs. I was happy about that. I was also privy to an interview at that time. I hope the guy gets the job. Good kid. Overall, a nice, clean place.
The baristas are young but they're keen and professional.
I DRANK
London Fog. It was in the okay range. I think I have a preference to the one made at Tsaa. I got a big cup so I guess it's worth it's almost $5 value.
OBLIGATORY CATCHY REMARK
Get your grams here. Nice spot in an otherwise cafe-less area.
