  • An awful experience. Mark Kia's advertisements mention the "Make My Deal" process on their website where a consumer can negotiate a price easily online. However what they fail to mention is that the "Make My Deal" process is simply a tactic to lure you into the dealership. After negotiating a deal that was officially accepted through their website, I was told all I simply had to do was come into the dealership and the agreed upon price would be honored. I pulled up into the dealership and showed the dealer my printed out certificate of the accepted price. After taking a look at the deal, he offered to pull the car around so I could take it for a test drive. I loved it, naturally, we moved onto the next step, paperwork. First, he started to gather information to run a credit check for financing options which was strange to me considering he never officially mentioned that the price of the vehicle would in fact be the one that was accepted via their website. After I mentioned I would first want to agree upon the price, to my surprise, the dealer informed me that there was a misunderstanding and there would be absolutely no way they could honor the deal even though it was accepted via the "Make My Deal" service they boast about in their advertisements. In fact, the dealer let me know the actual price I was looking at to purchase the car would be the listed price on their website, increased by $1500 on account of a "non-negotiable" window tint and reconditioning fee. What a complete waste of my time. I let the dealer know I was not interested and if they could come down to a fair price which I had thoroughly researched, they could give me a call. The next day, I received a voicemail from the dealer I was working with letting me know they could sell the vehicle for the listed online price since it was the most competitive price in Phoenix, hilarious. Even more humorous was the awkward fifteen seconds of silence after the dealer and I exchanged hellos on the phone until he finally asked how I would like to proceed with the "deal" with a clearly annoyed attitude. Apparently the dealer did not receive my e-mail containing links to a number of other dealerships which had the exact same make and model vehicle with less miles for a cheaper price. I kindly let him know I would be pursuing other options. I hope they had better luck selling vehicles to people who are willing to put up with terrible customer service and shady tactics to meet their end of March sales goals, because they certainly did not earn my business. Instead, I highly recommend visiting Sands Kia in Surprise where I purchased my vehicle this past week. Although the drive is a bit far from Metro Phoenix, the distance traveled is more than worth it to work with a staff that provided stellar customer service. It was clear the folks over at Sands Kia valued me as a potential customer, quite the opposite of the way I felt at Mark Kia.
