| - What can I say. These horrible reviews are all true. Here is my story. I've had Centurylink before. They offer blazing fast Internet of 7Mbps to my house in N. Scottsdale. For the last year I had COX, which is no winner either, but at least it was 30Mbps here. 30Mbps sounds great, but if you are streaming Netflix between 7pm and 10pm, then you will be watching a buffering symbol more than a movie. I THINK Centurylink is more consistent, but I don't know because they are still trying to get it to work, but I digress.
Anyway I ordered Centurylink on their web site. I bought what is supposed to be a good Centurylink modem on Amazon, the C1100Z. So the web site says it will be "installed Friday" between 9am and 5pm. Hmm, OK do I need to be home? I have no idea. I was home, but nobody ever came, an at 5pm I plugged my modem in the jack but got a red light. Bad news.
So I tried to log into my account, but realized I didn't even have enough information to create an account. Centurylink sent me NOTHING. So I called them up and I got this guy that sounded much like a typical "stoner" from the 80's. I'm not saying he was, just he sounded like one. So the first challenge was to find my account because I was never given one. I had an order number, no account number. Anyway after much work I GOT my account number which Centurylink calls a phone number, even if you don't have phone service with them.
Long story short, they have to send a tech over because my line is not connected well beyond my house. The tech was here today to get it connected, that was an hour ago, but he has driven off somewhere to get it connected. He seems very competent, but this is only because he does NOT work for Centurylink. If I ever do get service, I will update this.
