I'm venturing out of my normal food blogging and need to review this particular hotel here off of highway 74 close to Neil Street (which is 10ish minutes away from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign).
I'd like to point out 2 things that were extremely disappointing and kept me from giving this hotel a 4 star: 1. The hospitality and 2. The hotel food.
But first the room...can't complain, Marriott knows how to make their guests very comfortable. The bed felt like I was on a cloud (like I know what that feels like)...the bed was amazingly comfortable. The mattress was padded and the pillows were perfect. They had firm pillows and that made me happy. Now, onto the hospitality portion. When we checked in, we had a nice lady help us and made us feel right at home. It was simple and painless. However, check out was terrible. I had every intention of paying with cash (even though we used a credit card to hold the room) and as I approached the receptionist asking her that we wanted to pay, she rudely said, "You want to pay your room with WHUT?? but I already charged it to your card." Basically, she didn't want to go through the hassel of reversing the payment on the credit card. Pissed i tell you. She had to get her manager because she was annoyed that we wanted to pay differently. She copped an attitude the whole time her manager stood there. Anyways, that craptastic attitude will keep me from staying there again.
2. The food. *gag*. Ordered breakfast. Obviously they don't have a chef or anything because I asked for scrambled eggs and turkey sausage. Definitely EVERYTHING was microwaved. I can tell because the sausage was soft and cold tasting. I spit it out. My husband had this croissant sandwich and he said it tasted like freezer burn.
Don't eat here. Stay for the good clean rooms and good night's sleep but eat elsewhere. Your stomach will thank you in retrospect.
