| - As someone who travels a ton for work, I was happy to be welcomed by the Monaco last weekend when traveling for fun and having my extended family stay with me. Kimpton has beautiful hotels and great loyalty perks (starting at free wifi, and leading up to upgrades and customized amenities), and the Monaco was no exception on either front.
The good: Beautifully renovated, large rooms, quirky but well-curated interior design, fantastic bierhaus on the roof with great wait staff (plus extensive beer list and good food), quiet in the rooms, the concierge went out of their way to welcome my extended family and to recognize one's birthday
The bad: The Commoner restaurant took a full hour to get us very basic breakfasts, which were then drenched in butter and cold.
So overall, I plan on using the Monaco as my base when in Pittsburgh, but definitely not stepping foot into their restaurant again.
