This business should be avoided at all costs!!
Everything about Venice Fitness is predatory.
I purchased a 3 month membership through a 3rd party vendor for $25. I know, great deal, right?? Unfortunately not.
After paying in full, Venice required that I sign an additional contract with them that stipulated that I needed to inform them of cancellation 30 days prior to the end date via registered mail. If I didn't they would begin charging me $75/month!!
I took the safe route and send my cancellation 60 days in advance. As I had bought two memberships (one for my wife), I sent them both together via registered mail. Thinking I was done with them I didn't give it another thought.
My mistake... 2 months later and I find out they're charging me $75/month for my non-existant membership!!
When I called them on it, they gave a bunch of excuses and refused to refund the money. But on top of that, they refused to even cancel the membership!!
Nope, they decided that they're going to charge me $75/month for as long as they feel like it!
I'm working on ways to get the money back, but I also want to ensure that NO ONE gives these "people" another dime!
***UPDATE***
After months of battling with Venice Fitness, cancelling my credit card, filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and fraud charges with MasterCard... I got my money back!
And as an extra-added-bonus, after getting the refund from my credit card company, Venice Fitness sent me a refund cheque! I won't cash it because that would make me no better than them. Instead I'm going to frame it, as a trophy of beating these scam-artists!
