| - I'm going to start with a little shouting. WHY IS YOUR PARK SO FLIPPING DIRTY??? Ugh, the ground is sooooo gross. We were there at opening today and the ground by all the chairs near the wave pool? FILTHY!! Huge chunk of lord knows what right by the seats we found in the shade, crud everywhere and the lounge chairs are covered in black marks, stains, dirt, and random grossness! Do they even clean this place? Anyway, that is my huge rant for the day and I will move on to other points.
It's my third year here and again I cannot go over 2 stars for the place. We obviously keep going every year, and I do think for the Gold Pass it is a decent value if you go frequently. They are always fairly busy so I don't think they are hard up for customers. I think the only way it is worth it at all though, is to get a season pass, and go for a couple hours once a week. If you go right when they open (weekdays), you can easily get seats in the shade, ride every slide the first hour, spend the second hour between lazy river and wave pool, then head out before it gets too crazy. That seems to work well for us since we are just down the block but maybe not practical for people who live farther out?
As far as employees, it is a real 50/50 type situation. They are all pretty much kids it seems, and either very friendly, or will barely look at you and moodily stare into space. Typical teens I guess. I will say once we got a cabana, and there was a mix up so it took a while, and everyone was really nice from the office people, to the cabana hostess, so if you spring for that, the customer service is very good.
The food is ok, I actually like the waffle fries most days and you do get a discount with a Gold Pass, so that helps. The waits can be crazy long during the normal lunch time though so be prepared or eat early or late. The lazy river is fun, but again DIRTY! Filled with all sorts of bugs and leaves and other things?!? Now I realize it's outside, but it is much dirtier than other parks I have been to, so I know there must be some way of keeping it cleaner that they are not doing over here. Wave Pool is fun, and big, which is nice.
Also, I have to say I am hugely disappointed that they made the one slide a game slide you have to pay for. It is free with Gold Pass, but my kids have Silver and that was my little ones favorite slide and now you have to pay money to ride it. They billed it as this huge "NEW FUN SLIDE!" but they just used an old slide, so not only did they not build a new slide, they made one they already had in their park cost money. Just screams MONEY HUNGRY to me :-(
Anyway, I think that is kind of the basics of this place. We all go because there really isn't much else to do with your kids in Vegas, and I do think that in some ways WetNWild does try to make things better or listen to their customers (for instance it does seem like there is more shade this year), but with their constant adding new things that just cost more money (the slide, the picture bracelet, the many (empty!) daybeds), and not even being able to maintain a clean environment...I am just not impressed.
