Well, I will upgrade this review if my dealings with ADT ends up as I originally intended. After reading Yelp reviews of others, Im no longer optimistic, since they seem to have other complaints of a similar nature. This is a summary of what I find myself in the middle of with ADT:
ADTs apparent practice:
Apparently other customers, as was I, have been told a month to month contract is not available...
Until the customer says they are not interested in service under an extended agreement. (Exactly what happened when I said no thank you to a 3 yr contract)
At that time the Representative ADT has sent to your house makes a phone call for permission to make an exception. ADT approves this, in my case, I was given a 'rider' noting My service was month to month.
6 months later I called to discontinue my month to month service. ADT tells me that I would be charged for cancelling before 'The 3 year contract' was fulfilled.
I remind ADT of my month to month agreement.
ADT tells me 'Thats not possible because ADT does not offer month to month service'
I reference the 'Terms and Conditions Rider'
First I am told there is no such rider. I offer to fax it to ADT. The rude person on phone tells me he cant help me because as long as he has been with ADT, he has not heard of this.
NEXT DAY:
ADT calls to be sure I know that I have a credit that may be used when I restart ADT service. I thank him and share that at this point I am only requesting to discontinue my month to month service.
I am again told I will be charged for ending my 3 year contract early. Again I explain I have a monthly contract and reference my month to month 'rider.'
ADT acknowledges this contract rider is indeed signed and in my file. However this ADT representative tells me the ADT rep who signed it did not have authority to sign this rider. He further consoled me by adding, he was sorry but he didnt know what to tell me. It was not something he deals with. But all would be ok as soon as I re-signed up for 3 years with ADT for equipment (which we do not need)
(Note to self: ask for the job description of ADP employee before speaking with any ADT rep).
Soooo...my only option is to review my final bill from ADT and notify appropriate Consumer WATCH DOG TV station. To be continued....
Update: NO response or remedy from this company. Do not recommend doing business with them.
