| - I am a renter but this is the company who came out to fix the garage door. Another company came out to give a 2nd opinion. Door Doctor actually pushed the button, checked the batteries, manually lifted the door, showed me how to manually lock the garage door - you know, INSPECTED the door before giving the repair options. He kept the options short, realizing I was the tenant and not the one to make the decisions. Then they left, indicating they'd be in touch with the rental agency. 2nd opinion business comes out: person knocks, I answer. He is not dressed professionally and there is no name tag. Long pause. I say, "Who are you?" [I'm expecting the garage door company, but this guy just looks like a solicitor.] Finally he introduces himself. He comes in and proceeds to try to visit with me, get my dog to interact with him (my normally overly-friendly dog sat about 2 yards away, unmoving, and just stared at him), etc. AWKWARD. Finally goes out to the garage and lifts nary a finger. He literally stood in the middle of the garage, did a 180 and told me the whole thing (springs, motor, etc.) needed to be replaced. Then he kept trying to talk to me about all the different components of the garage door, what could/could not be replaced. I must have told him 3 times that I'm the wrong person to talk to since I'm the tenant AND that the owner wanted to hear the information directly from HIM not from me. I finally asked him to write the quote down. He looked at me like I was stupid and then wrote it down on a generic form (no business name) using chicken scratch that is at least 50% illegible. Thank God the homeowner went with Door Doctor!
