| - This company is an absolute crock of shit. I moved in to my home a little over two years ago, so I am fairly confident I am through my 2 year contract.
I had very unreliable internet service throughout the entire term of my contract. I called to notify centurylink of the problem multiple times, and even confirmed my end of contract date since I did not intend to renew my contract. I have written communication (email) evidencing my complaints of unreliable internet connection for the months previous to my cancellation.
On the date I was told was my cancellation date, I called to cancel my internet service. Everything went smoothly and I was told I would get a refund for the portion of the month I prepaid and wouldn't use. Much to my surprise, a week later I received a bill in the mail for a $200 "early termination fee" less the credit I was owed. This is absurd since I cancelled on my cancellation date. Furthermore, I did not receive reliable internet service, so if anyone breached the contract, it is centurylink not me. AND I owned my home for almost exactly 2 years at the date of this incident, so it was likely my 2 year contract was up.
The day I received the bill, I called customer service. After several transfers and three managers, I was told the early termination fee would be waived due to my lack of reliable internet service provided to me. Much to my surprise, I received ANOTHER bill with the past due amount. Remember in actuality centurylink owes ME for the amount I prepaid. I went on online chat and was told I would received a check for the $200 early termination fee ONLY IF I paid my current statement, which included the fee that I was wrongfully charged. AT THIS POINT I AM LOANING CENTRYLINK $200 FOR A FEE I NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN CHARGED AND THAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD WOULD BE REIMBURSED.
It is over a month later and I have not received my refund check. These business practices are criminal and should be prosecuted.
