The Calgary Airport is not the worst airport in the country. And that should be a ringing endorsement because there are some horrible airports in this country (Halifax jumps to mind right away).
They took a jack-knife away from me one morning before a flight (I forgot it was in my pocket) and they weren't much help in trying to keep it. I offered the security workers money or dinner or booze or whatever they wanted to hang on to it for me. The knife had special significance for me, but there wasn't a human amongst them. But I suppose it was my fault, so I won't condemn them too much for that.
Actually, getting in and out of security here is much better than some airports where the security guy is looking to get promoted or something by harassing innocent people. Everyone I've dealt with in Calgary have been civil.
The airport itself is easy to negotiate around and easy to pick people up at, provided it's not a Friday night. The services are decent inside, but I've noticed they closed my favourite spot to grab a drink before or after a flight down at the end by gate 1. That's a shame, I've had a lot of good laughs in that place and met some strange people....
All in all, the Calgary Airport is probably even above average when compared to others in Canada....
