  • I've been to the BBQ several times, and overall I like the idea of the place. Create your own stir fry? Chicken, lamb, seafood, vegetables? Sign me up! However, the last time I was there, I was a little disappointed. The food was fine. Even if it wasn't, I would be the one to blame, since it was my creation. They had an Oktoberfest promotion running, and the idea of having bratwurst and cabbage as options for the stir fry was intriguing. But the overall experience was just awful, and a lot of it had to do with the atmosphere and service. The place tends to be cramped and loud during the dinner rush, but I was surprised at how busy and loud it was at 9:00 pm. There was a greasy, sticky feel in the air, and seeing food scattered on the floor, the salad bar, and on the unbussed tables would have been enough to make a squeamish person lose his or her appetite. Our waiter was a portly gentleman with a scruffy unkempt appearance dressed in his T-shirt drenched with sweat. His disheveled look was a bit of turn off, but I wasn't concerned since he wouldn't be handling the food. Later, while standing in line, he just happened to walk past me to the server aisle, breathing heavily, with his eyes darting around suspiciously. I watched as he poured refills into the glasses from another table, holding the glasses around the rims with his stubby, greasy fingers. Fortunately, I was drinking a bottled beer that night, but it was an unpleasant sight nonetheless. Getting that bottle of beer was a challenge in itself - the waiter spent a solid two minutes shoehorning his promotional souveneir mug sales pitch into the conversation while taking our order. If I wanted 32 ounces of beer, I would have asked for it initially! At some point in the night, he also managed to spill ice cream all over the floor at the table next to us. Overall, the service was painfully slow - we didn't get extra bowls when we wanted them, we never received the rice we ordered, I didn't get the glass of water I wanted, and I spent most of the time there waiting for one thing or another. I'm not saying I wouldn't go back, but it will be a while, and I will need a good reason when I go. It would seem the management should be keeping an eye out for these things. TIP FOR NEW CUSTOMERS: The sauces tend to be very salty, so be sure to use in moderation. However, if you don't want your stir fry to be dry, try adding some olive oil from the salad bar or some ice from your table to the bowl before you take it to the cooks. Be sure to be discreet about it though.
