| - I love the Peoria Sports complex and it's hard to imagine that it is now considered "outdated." This is a fantastic place to catch Spring Training!
This facility is shared by 2 natural rivals - the Mariners and Padres. It's pretty common these days for teams to share facilities. The tickets are reasonably priced, there is grass seating in the outfield and regular seating everywhere else. It's Arizona, and although it's only March, it will get pretty toasty. There isn't much shade, so make sure you lather up on sunscreen.
The best pre/post game place is Salty Senoritas, which is conveniently located in the parking lot and has a shuttle to take you to the gate after 1 too many margaritas. Sometimes players hang out there after games as well, and it's HUGE, so it's great for people watching.
Peoria is a good community (part of Phoenix, technically). There are tons of places to stay, eat and drink. But public transportation is not a great option, so you will likely need a car. Also, you aren't far from Glendale where Cardinals stadium is and a great outdoor mall (similar to Town Square in Las Vegas), where there is a piano bar, Yard House and lots of other fun stuff.
