| - I've been wanting to try shaved ice for a while, so I decided to check this place out :) I had high expectations, but only because I saw gorgeous photos of their desserts before hand. The desserts met my expectations; we got Cotton Snow (milk) and Frog Prince (honey dew). They were very aesthetically pleasing, and melted right into my mouth. It was a large portion - enough for around 3 people to share I'd say.
I decided to take 2 stars away because of the service. We called ahead of time to make sure they're open until 12, and they are. So we went in, and got there around 11:30 or so. The host already mentioned to us there were no more food orders (okay then...?) but they still served dessert. That was fine at the moment, because I only wanted dessert anyway. I've been in the restaurant industry so I understand the frustration of "late comers" - but only to an extent. We came in 30 minutes before close. From my experience, usually when a restaurant lists that they close at a certain time - it doesn't mean that they empty out the restaurant by that time... It just means they don't let new customers come in after that time. We arrived 1/2 an hour before "close" and they RUSHED us. I give them props because it was fast service (we were seated right away, the food came fast, etc.) but it took away the enjoyable experience. We barely had a minute to look at the menu before they came to our table and rushed us into ordering. They tried to rush us into paying as well, but I think our waiter realized his mistake afterwards. At first he brought the bill to us and hinted to pay, then seconds later he took the bill back and told us to take our time (maybe he knew I looked upset). The experience was awkward, because everyone was cleaning and it looked like they wanted us out. Regardless, their efficiency is a plus and so is the food itself.
