  • After hearing so many great things about Kid Cashew, we were excited to try it for a Sunday lunch. It was a beautiful day, so patio seating was ideal. We were sat and given menus and waters and told our server would be right with us. But he wasn't - in our time waiting for our server (over 10 minutes), we watched another group that got sat after us leave and we contemplated doing the same. Once our server came, we ordered our entrees and an order of hummus to munch on in preparation for another long wait. The hummus came quickly. The pita was tasty, perfectly grilled. The hummus wasn't like any hummus I'd had before - yes, it had chickpeas, but it was more of a thick bean dip. It didn't taste like hummus and you had to use a knife to spread it on the pita in order to eat it. Not impressed. When our food came, my husband had the slow-cooked pork panini with "spicy mustard". The spicy mustard had SO much horseradish that you couldn't taste anything else on the sandwich - in a blind taste test, I never would have noticed the pork, Gouda, picked mushrooms or bread. And it came with a side of roasted baby potatoes - he got two, cut in half. Is that a side or an afterthought? I ordered the lamb gyro. Again, the pita was great. Fluffy, seasoned right and not too thick. The tzatziki was good, although a bit on the sour side and thinly spread, leaving only every other bite with any sauce. The insufficient amount of tzatziki further emphasized how dry the lamb was. The gyro had all the right components, but wasn't tasty enough to finish. Thank goodness I got a bit more potatoes than my husband to make up for it. The meal ended with another wait - we had to flag the waiter down to get the check and waited another 10 minutes for him to reappear to run our card. Groan. He wasn't that busy - he had one other table who we watched him individually carry out 4 glasses of tea during our wait to have our card run. Overall, the pros are: great patio, good pita, great service from waiter assistants (our water glasses stayed full). Cons: while the restaurant is farm to table and doesn't use friers, heat lamps, etc, we found the flavor lacking and food not well prepared. The service was slow... annoyingly slow.
