| - The wife and I spent four nights at the Artisan earlier this week and had a fantastic time from start to finish. The atmosphere was unlike anything we have experienced in Vegas, but it was the staff who made it special for us, always taking the time to make sure we were having fun and had what we needed.
The parties did go late on the weekend, and the hotel is far from soundproofed, so anyone expecting to be able to go to sleep in the late evening or early morning in silence might want to choose from one of hundred other hotels within a ten minute taxi drive. But the Artisan doesn't claim to be anything it's not, and fair warning is given, so there should be no surprises. Our solution to the noise - after a great Saturday couples pool party wound down around six, we slept until midnight when the music came on again,. We left the hotel for a few hours, but came back to continue the party because that was more fun than anything else we had done so far that night, and went to sleep again when they shut it down five hours later (a little earlier than usual, apparently, but it was raining).
The hotel is lifestyle-friendly without being overt about it (we're pretty low-key people so it was nice that aspect was fully acknowledged but still treated with subtlety). And it was a great atmosphere for the missus to push the boundaries with her evening clothing without needing to be concerned about being harassed.
During the daytime, she enjoyed being able to swim and walk around topless at the pool.
We had a problem with the door getting stuck, and the maintenance guy, who was staying in the room across the hall that night, told me it could be repaired in the morning. He knew we would be out late, but even so told us that if we had any problems getting in, we could knock on his door at any hour and he would give us a hand. That meant a lot to us. It's indicative of the friendliness and service provided by every member of the staff we met in five days / four nights.
It's not luxury, it's a decent but aging hotel. But the Artisan is not about the building, it is about the people working there, the libertine atmosphere, and the experience, one which we are hoping to have again soon.
