My five stars are for the spookiest place in town. I was browsing thru yelp and came across the photos of Lakeview Cemetery. They took me back twenty years when I was told I did not have long to live. I stupidly decided part of my dwindling days should be finding my grave site. Since my diagnosis was from UH I went to Lakeview with the friend who was accompanying me.
It was a fall day and close to twilight. As he drove me along the winding roads in a lower part of the grounds we were threatened by angels with outstretched arms trying to grab us, dark little mausoleums with stained glass windows lowly illuminated by the waning sun. Old monuments, nearly bare trees, and more large statues of individuals in sorrow and agony confronted us at all sides.
He floored the car and we could not get out of those gates fast enough. I have kept alive far longer than what was promised me. I suspect a large part of my survival is from the dread of being in a grave at Lakeside.
