  • I love Marriott's hotels, and I stay at them whenever possible. I personally love Residence Inns because they're small apartments (although I feel guilty that I only use them for short term stays as opposed to the extended terms they're meant for). This personal Residence Inn had a perfect location for what my friend and I were there for (Cavs game), and delivered what we needed, albeit with a few hiccups. One thing I was quite irked about was parking. I read that their parking situation could be a headache, and I knew I was going to be in right around 7PM (the Cavs had back to back games), so in my head I knew there was going to be a bunch of traffic on Euclid and Prospect. Anticipating that, I called ahead and asked about the parking situation so I wouldn't be stressed upon arriving. The receptionist told me "just come to the front and our bellman will direct you on where to go". I found that to be a bit frustrating, especially because I arrived exactly when I thought I would, and I had no way of easily getting to the front for directions. I eventually parked in a garage next to Soul Fusion, which is only $12 overnight if you don't happen to arrive during the game. It was $20 one night and $12 the next, but I didn't care. I was anxious over the traffic and I knew I was downtown so it's not like I was expecting cheap parking. Anyhow, once my friend and I arrived at the hotel, we were checked in and got our room - room 554. While I find the hotel itself charming and their historic preservation fantastic, it was a pain in the ass to get to our room. We had to go up their initial elevator one flight, walk down the corridor through the arcade, and go up another elevator for three more levels. The first time we did it, it was like "oh cool, the arcade is so pretty, look at those shops, wow!" The more and more we did it however, we were constantly going "damn, this is a far ass walk, is there really no easier way to the outside?" FYI, there isn't; they block all staircases that go down to the arcade - which logical me appreciates because it means people aren't walking through the hotel - but lazy me found it to be quite the inconvenience. The room was everything I expected it to be and more! For the precise reasons I love Residence Inns, this room delivered. It was extremely spacious (to the point where my friend was like do we really need this much space?), with a kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. The room was always clean and items were replenished as needed. I forgot the housekeeper's name (Lissa maybe?), but s/o to her because I very much appreciate it. The kitchen proved to be especially useful considering there are little to no late night delivery options by the hotel. When Sammi and I had leftovers from meals during the day, we could put it in our fridge and save it for later. So not having late night delivery wasn't a big deal, although I still wish there was a Dominos I could have gotten some cheesy bread :( The breakfast was exactly as you expect a Marriott's continental breakfast to be; it delivered immensely because we always woke up hungry. I wish it went past 10AM, but I understand that they typically serve business clients and they're usually at work by a certain time. All in all, my pros outweigh the cons. It was close to the arena and the E 4th Gateway district and gave me a spacious and comfortable place to stay. I will consider this hotel again on a return trip to Cleveland.
