(3.5/5) No frills seems to be positioned as the discount retailer or the cheaper end of the spectrum of large groceries. It does this fairly well imo. Coming from the Caribbean this no frills actually reminds me of the larger Supermarkets back home.
The layout and navigation is simple and straight forward. You would not find as much variety here as you would in the more upscale groceries, their organic selection is limited, but still there is quite a bit being offered with many cheaper alternatives and no name brands for those looking to save a buck.
The produce offering (fruit, veggies, herbs etc) beat my expectations for such a store and I found this and the meat to be noticably well priced. However, some non-food items and snacks I found to be priced at or higher than other groceries, though I will note that there were cheaper brand alternatives available.
When I visited the store there were 2 cashiers and 1 express Lane open. I have experienced this at Metro as well, however, at no frills it seems people are coming to purchase larger amounts of groceries which take longer Check out times. The cashier was quick and friendly. Also there were people working in the aisles, but again, this same thing happens at other groceries and asking them nicely to allow you space never hurt anyone.
