I have had a similar experience as a previous poster. I thought the parainfluenza/bordetella vaccine that is a standard requirement for most groomers/boarding was the Canine Influenza vaccine. Apparently, they are two separate vaccines so they wanted me to pay an additional $26 to have them administer this unnecessary Canine Influenza vaccine to my dog. My vet says that the Canine Influenza vaccine is more for puppies, my dog is 7 years old. Caring Hearts also requires that the Bordetella/parainfluenza and Canine Influenza vaccines be no older than six months or they want you to readminister them. Those vaccines are good for a full year. No other groomer or boarding facility has ever required this Canine Influenza or not accepted the full year duration of the vaccine, so my distress and confusion was understandable. Ridiculous! So I never even got to take my pet in for grooming because of these requirements that fall under the guise of we want to be vigilant in protecting our clientele. I understand trying to set a superior bar, but don't try to accomplish it by promoting unnecessarily vaccines to my beautiful dog. No other facility requires this Canine Influenza.
