I recently got a massage at this location. I had been to other Massage Envy's in the past and had good services. At one point I even got their one year membership, but when I didn't use all my paid massages by December 31, I lost them. No one told me that, but I didn't read the fine print.
The masseuse I got seemed like a complete beginner. She lightly rubbed my neck for 20 minutes without changing the pressure or technique. I actually felt like she was giving me a rope burn. Next she said she was going to do some deep tissue work, which I was excited about. She proceeded to stick her elbow underneath my shoulder blade and push down as hard as possible. The massage ended with light circles on my back. Although I wasn't enjoying it, the massage ended early. My friend who had a different masseuse, but started at the same time, came out of hers around 8 minutes later.
After coming out, the masseuse was not there which is unusual. I found my way to go the office and she was there getting my cup of lukewarm water. The receptionist asked me how my massage went and said, "would you like to have massages more often?" She immediately went into a hard sell on why I should get a yearly membership. It was so annoying to have her try to sell me something after I had just paid a huge amount of money for a bad massage.
As I was paying she asked if I would like to put a gratuity on my payment. Rather than letting me privately add a tip, she explained that I had to tell her the amount. I am convinced that this is a way to shame tips out of people who don't want to sound cheap in front of all the other waiting customers.
I will never go to another Massage Envy. Terrible experience!
