As a Mirvish subscriber, I've probably seen 15 shows at this theatre.
On the negative side:
- view from the mezzanine is terrible! For a female of average height, It's impossible to see over the head of the person in front. Even the staff jokingly refer to the problem as 'Ed head'.
On the plus side:
- location is great with easy public transit access. The walk from the Dundas subway station is short.
- concession stand snacks are very good including fresh baked cookies and chocolate covered almonds
- ladies' washroom lineup moves quickly before the show
- historic and attractive theatre
- seats are comfortable enough
Regardless of the positives listed above, we go to the theatre to see plays. So if we can only see a fraction of the stage and must lean forward or from side to side as the actors move around the stage, the experience is diminished. Also, this movement sets off a chain reaction as the theatregoers behind the moving person must move around to view the stage. Not everyone can afford to buy the most expensive tickets to get a better view.
