| - This is a quick review on my overall impression of the establishment while getting an estimate for a front bumper repair/repaint and why I did NOT choose Exoticar for my vehicle.
Upon walking in today at around 11:45 AM, I asked the receptionist if I could get an estimate for my repair. Within a few minutes, I was outside with the estimator (I believe his name was David). He was nice enough.
For the vehicle, I needed to get a front bumper repainted for various rock chips and some light scratching on one side. Nothing difficult as no dents are on the bumper.
Afterwards, we went out to the back to David's office. His office is not inviting -- horrible flat-cushioned chairs, cold lighting, and just overall looked like the early 1980s. Whatever, just saying.
The quote for removing my front bumper and fixing was estimated as $940. This is before "anything else we may need to fix under the bumper after we take it off", David says. Turnaround time was 3-4 days! Seriously?
For comparison, Metropolitan Body Shop literally a few hundred feet away quoted the same job for $750 and ONE day turnaround.
Another thing. Since this body shop handles high-end cars like Ferrari, Bentley, Rolls-Royce -- don't bring your "pedestrian" Toyota, Audi, Mercedes, etc. I was joking to David that bringing such a car (like mine) would be low on the totem pole of vehicles there -- and he pretty much said straight to my face this was correct. This rubbed me as super snobby. Guess they live by their name.
No credit/debit cards accepted at Exoticar, which I find very odd (sketchy). No personal checks over $1,000. Anything else either needs to be Money Order, Cashiers Check, or Cash. This I highly suspect.
For these various little things, I am very reluctant to use this body shop. Everything just seemed fishy and the people want to take advantage of you. It is very unreasonable to expect a 3-4 day turnaround time for a relatively simple bumper repaint. Based on the issues I mentioned, you will find similar stories with other reviews of this business. Just steer away from here and save yourself any potential headaches.
