This Walmart is incapable of a simple payment transaction. There is something mechanically wrong with the machine that processes checks. After waiting for the 7 customers ahead of me to check out (hmmmm, a real staffing issue here), the cashier ran my check through their machine, it made a munching sound and mangled my check followed by the message that it could not read the check. The cashier ran it through the machine 5 more times with further mangling of the check with each pass.
The cashier then called the manager and no one answered after many rings. She tried 3 more times and the line was busy (hmmmm, a real staffing issue here too). When she finally got through the manager told her that I would have to pay some other way since their reader couldn't read the check. I had asked if they could manually input the check number since they were obviously having problems with the reader. The answer was 'no." Why not? That technology is available at most other stores. So, I dug through my purse for the cash for the transaction.
I have already stopped ordering merchandise online from Walmart since they won't complete the transaction unless you put part of your social security number online (that is never going to happen). Now the brick and mortar stores cannot complete a simple check transaction because of their defective equipment? It doesn't matter how great a store is, if you cannot complete payment transactions, then you are out of business.
