I have been to this museum twice, and I think it's definitely worth a trip if you live within a day's drive.
First, the space is bright and gorgeous. The remodel toes the line between modern and original, making sure to respect the original structure. The atrium floods you with daylight. I also enjoy that it's easy to navigate; some museums require heavy map use, but in the CLE museum, you can pick a general direction and you'll get there.
I honestly don't remember as much about the collection as I would like because my last trip was concentrated on only part of the art. The armor room is awesome. I took my friend's son to see it and he loved it. It was his birthday, so we looked mainly at medieval art and artifacts rather than some of the more modern pieces. They certainly had enough to occupy us for a few hours without even getting past the Renaissance.
Best of all, this museum is free. I think that's a great thing. It should be accessible to anybody who wants to learn about art. I wish I lived closer; we spent some time sketching and that was fun, but my local museum only has one day a week that's free. I would come here more often to get drawing practice if I lived nearby.
