| - High ratings pulled me in this place.....
Bad decision.
Waitress was snotty, if there were specials, we never heard about them. When I ordered my taco, I asked if I could have a small side of guacamole, not an unreasonable request at a Mexican restaurant? Apparently so! I was told it was only sold as an appetizer. I said that I wanted really wanted to try it, but couldn't eat an appetizer sized order. The waitress, with the GIANT hoop earrings, shrugged her shoulders, "too bad" plus attitude. So no side of guacamole for me!
I ordered the URBAN BEAN COFFEEE BRAISED BEEF with caramelized onion, mango jicama relish, and Cotija cheese.
With all those ingredients, you would think that it would have some flavor? Very under seasoned. Although there WAS an overwhelming part to this Taco, it wasn't greasy.....it was oily. Everyone loves a greasy taco now and then, but oily? Yuck...
The Mexican Street Corn was a disaster! This is the description right from their website: STREET CORN - grilled corn on the cob, habanero butter, chipotle mayonnaise, cotija cheese.
Ok see in the description where it says "grilled corn on the cob"? Well there was NOTHING grilled about it, just a soggy, and I mean SOGGY, piece of corn! I have included a photo. Just look at the husk, when I picked it up, so much liquid streamed out of it that it went right through my napkin on my lap and soaked my jeans. No grill marks, no charred grilled corn taste, just soggy BOILED corn with mayo, I couldn't identify any habanero butter taste all. I hope I can get the spot out of my jeans, I don't need that as a reminder of my dismal food experience at Taco Guild!
