| - Not overly impressed.
The chips and salsa were nothing to write home about. The chips were bland and a bit stale, while the salsa was bland, as well...damn near tomato water with a couple flecks of green herbs. When we got a refill on the chips and salsa, I noticed that the bowls of salsa are filled and kept on a tray, uncovered, on a shelf behind the cashier's station. That's kind of sketchy to me.
I ordered the Mexico City Tacos with steak. They were tasty enough, and the portion (3 tacos with 6 soft corn tortillas) was very good, but again, the corn tortillas were very bland and dry. The refried black beans (aren't they supposed to be pinto beans?) had a strange taste, and the rice was just OK.
The service was very good. Our waitress was on top of everything and my glass was never empty...a sign of a good waitress!
I was puzzled by the hostess/bartender (it was tuesday night) when, despite the very light crowd, she sat our part of 3 at a table that would have been perfect for 2. There were lots of 4-tops available the entire evening, so I just thought it was strange.
In all, for the average prices on the menu, $14.95, I guess I just had higher expectations for this meal.
