| - Where to start with Cox. We have been customers since Dec 2008. Three years ago, the city of Gilbert took it upon themselves to renumber the townhouse we owned at the time. Joel from Cox contacted us a month before the number change took effect, to confirm the unit number change. Despite the fact that they contacted us, and it was explained in no uncertain terms to Joel that only the number on our door was changing in a month, and we were not moving, Joel decided to cut our service right away and attempt to move it to our 'new' address. We lost service for a week, that was fun. When we came back in the fall, and took the service off seasonal, we could not make outgoing phone calls, other than to Cox, and we had no cable or internet. As it turned out, when they took us off seasonal the halfwit who was behind the keyboard in customer service entered that we owed Cox money (which we did not), and froze our services. That fiasco resulted in me standing at a payphone for hours, in the hot sun, getting it straightened out. They have taken us off the loyalty discount a number of times, and charged us reconnection fees when we came off seasonal billing. My personal favourite was when they took us off our long distance plan. I was questioned if I asked for that. Yep, because just the other day I was thinking '5 cents a minute isn't nearly enough, I should pay Cox 55 cents a minute'. That actually resulted in an email to the FCC. I contacted them because I read a news story about prisoners complaining about paying 29 cents a minute, and how outrageous that rate is. I did not want Cox digging into our US bank account to the tune of $300, then telling us we prepaid our bill, which is a common MO for them. When we moved, the installer came and went, quick like a bunny. After he left, I realized the cable was not working in the bedrooms. They came back the next day...and charged me for two installs on my next bill. What? No! I raised hell about that and got both install fees dropped. Their latest trick is to label their screw up refunds as 'courtesy credit' on our bill. There is no courtesy in the credits, you screwed up, Cox, repeatedly. We are looking into where else we can spend $1600 a year, being that they just put their rates up, again,
