This wonderful little italian bakery is nestled in a plaza on Roytec Rd. where it's colourful name stands out amongst the stores.
Once inside you will find pairings of tables and chairs in an L shape surrounding a wonderful array of goodies staring at your from behind the glass counter. They make Cannoli's fresh and by order so you won't find these delicacies sitting there beside cookies and fellow pastries like Zeppole. They can also make them any way your heart desires, with the traditional riccotta cheese or with custard creme etc. I love that you can taste a hint of lemon zest in the vanilla cannoli!
Although they are famous for what they were named after- CANNOLIs, you also cannot dismiss the fact they make fresh cakes to order. I can rarely order a cake without the ever so delectible DULCE DE LECHE and unfortunately this trend is just barely catching on among cake-makers. Luckily, 3 1/2 years ago I spoke to the head pastry chef at the Big Cannoli and he was willing to try and make it for me. My cake was AMAZING! Three tiers of fresh custard cream, dulce-de-leche "milk-caramel", strawberries and peach. He just recently made another cake for me with the same ingredients sans the fruit and it was mouth-watering! Not only are they masters of their craft but they are super friendly and offer wonderful customer service.
If you are looking for a quaint spot to sit and have an espresso or late and try an authentic italian treat then this is your place! You won't be disappointed.
