This wasn't our first time at Union Pig, but it was the most disappointing. It was an early Sunday evening, the place was empty, but that shouldn't explain how when the hostess seated us at a dirty table she swiped it with her hand (and smeared the food) instead of sending a server over to actually clean it, or clean it herself. Since the place was empty and the servers were shooting the breeze at the bar, why not clean tables? Anyhow we ordered brisket and ribs. The brisket was tough and fatty -- I had to cut and dice it to get just the meat. My husband's ribs were ridiculously fatty, so sort of inedible that he polished off his side dishes and some of mine because he was still hungry. Side dishes of cole slaw (excellent) and corn broad (usually good but sort of dry on our visit) were the highlight. This isn't the first time we've had less than great meat, but I guess we kept thinking maybe it was just an off night, but that doesn't seem to be the case, and this visit will definitely be our last. If only you could eat the great bbq/smoky smell of the place, that was best part.
