  • I started my journey with Shawn about four months ago. After a seemingly minor lower back injury made me feel like an old decrepit man at the age of 32 I realized it was time to make a drastic change. I admit I had fallen into the traps of sedentary domestic life with two jobs and two children still in diapers. My wife helped me find Shawn on yelp. From his pics and info on the website, I initially thought he looked like a typical "bro". However, from the first consultation, he was very approachable and professional. We went over my fitness goals, health history, and he did a through baseline assessment of my body composition and mechanics. He got me started on a meal plan and supplements recommendation and outlined his plan to get me where I want to be. After our first few workouts, I was happy and satisfied with level of variety and difficulty. It was definitely challenging, but Shawn was explaining and guiding me through each workout. Shawn is present. I appreciate that he takes his job seriously, unlike a lot of trainers I have seen at LVAC on their phones or socializing during their sessions. He is flexible with my hectic work and family schedule as long as I give him 24 hour notice. After the first month or so of meal prepping, doing cardio three days a week, and working out with Shawn two days a week, I noticed changes. I felt good! I had more energy, I was more positive and even though it was tough and grueling to pull 12 hour shifts then workout, then go home to put the kids to bed I had the energy to do it! Don't get me wrong I definitely wish I had a few more hours of sleep every night. After three months of training twice a week with Shawn, I have lost about 16 pounds, gained muscle, and feel great! My clothes are looser, friends and family notice I look slimmer, and I feel more confident about myself! I still will be training with Shawn once a week while I train for my first ever half marathon in November. The biggest things for me is that my mentality towards food has changed, and working out and staying active has become a habit. I eat to live more than I did before when all I was doing was living to eat, and I feel off if I don't work out after a few days. Don't get me wrong, personal training isn't cheap! But when you're paying for it you're more obligated to take it seriously! I feel like investing in your own health is well worth the cost. Shawn has and continues to give me the tools and knowledge to keep progressing. Its ultimately up to me!! City Athletic Club: Shawn trains exclusively out of this gym. I had to sign up for a membership along with the training sessions. Kind of an older facility, but they have everything you need. The staff is friendly. Not ever too crowded. A lot of trainers come here to train clients, and a lot of pros come here to train too.
