| - Ok, I am seriously on the fence about Settebello. I mean, how could a place live up to all of the 5 star reviews?!
I have wanted to go here for what seems like forever, and I finally got the chance to stop in for a late lunch on a Tuesday afternoon.
I hear this place gets crowded - but you wouldn't know it from that day! Maybe we chose the perfect time to go! There were only a few other people in the place, most of which were in the bar area for happy hour. We chose to sit in the main dining room (note: this place is SMALL), rather than in the bar or on the patio (still too hot for that).
Our server was friendly, but not super nice. Not sure if that makes sense, but she just seemed to be ready for her day to be over and going through the motions.
I was super excited to see the blood orange pellegrino on the menu! The menu itself is pretty basic - about 10 different pizzas and maybe 7 appetizers. We weren't super hungry, so we decided to share the small insalata and the quattro formaggio (4 cheese, gringos). The salad was pretty basic, but really delicious. It was a spring mix with a balsamic vinagrette and the best parmesan cheese slices EVER! I could seriously just eat a wheel of that.
The pizza was really good as well. I love the smoky flavor of the crust from the oven. The 4 cheese pizza uses some strong cheese and not a ton of sauce, which makes for an awesome combo. I will admit, the crust was a bit soggy, but I think that's to be expected. Trust me when I say, I had absolutely no problems folding that slice and stuffing my face! At first my Mom didn't really like it, but after a few bites she realized she was wrong and quickly fell in love!
Now, this could easily be a 5 star review. BUT, our service was a bit shaky, even though we were her only table. And I feel like it's a bit pricey - it was over $25 for my Mom and I to share a small salad, a small pizza and 2 drinks. If the prices were lower, I could easily see me making this a regular stop. One thing to note: there was happy hour in the bar area, and the sign advertised 1/2 priced cocktails and $5 mini pizzas, so maybe that is the time to hit this place up!
