| - I have lived at Courtney Village since Jan 2013, and I must say I do love it here. To those who say it's a crappy neighborhood, this is the big city folks. There are no guarantees, even in a gated community. I have friends up in Scottsdale who live in gated communities with a guardhouse, and they still have problems. So, it really doesn't matter where you live. My son's car was broken into for the stereo, which was not great, but we have AAA so it didn't take long for us to get it fixed.
While it is true the gate is broken sometimes, this has been because IDIOTS try to go through the gates without entering the code behind someone and the gates are in the process of closing and the car hits the gate. I've seen it happen.
As far as the noise, on the weekends (in the summer especially) there are pool parties with kids, which doesn't bother me. There have been two occasions since Jan that I was rudely awakened by people on their patio being too loud in the wee hours of the morning. But a quick "please keep it down" was acknowledged and back to sleep I went. I think management got rid of any really bad apples, since I have NEVER heard any fighting or screaming.
Maintenance requests have been acknowledged by phone the next morning if placed after hours, and an appointment made. Never a problem with this. The groundskeepers are very nice, and one even volunteered to take my trash to the dumpster for me, because he was on the way there and saw me carrying it. It is a pain that there are not more dumpsters, but I don't let trash pile up, so driving by on my way to work every 3-4 days is not a big deal.
Parking - yeah, it can be a bit irritating, especially when we see one particular vehicle make a habit of parking so askew that the person next to him/her couldn't open their door. I had to crawl in my car from the passenger side one morning. I took a photo of the license plate, reported it to the office, and it's never happened again.
You are 10 mins or less from just about everything here. Location is great. Light rail station is less than 5 minutes away, and the Skytrain to the airport is about a 15 min drive, if that. Perfect.
Office staff - Tasha , Claudia, and Lisa are wonderful. I think there was another gal as well when I first moved in. She was nice, but needed to smile more. She appeared to be having a bad day most of the time, but was never rude.
I have recommended Courtney Village to two friends so far, and one will be moving here in the next month. Hopefully they won't raise my rent too much when my lease is up, as I always pay anywhere from 2-5 days ahead of the due date.
