"A little nonsense now and then, is relished by the wisest men"--just got home from the Willy Wonka Party at the Alamo and we are still talking about it! I cannot remember enjoying a movie this much anywhere. Meeting Veruca and Mike TV was of course the highlight, but really the Alamo threw one heck of a party. The Wonka theme ran throughout the theater starting at the bar, which was decorated like the candy shop. We sipped some great cocktails while waiting for the theater to open.
The theater was very comfy and our waiter was johnny on the spot with everything we wanted. The food was delicious and the popcorn tasted like my grams (real butter!!). They had some fun Wonka themed cocktails but the best part were the props! The actors came out and explained that in our goodie bags were different things to use during the movie--yellow streamers for Veruca's "I want it now" song, bubbles to blow during the fizzy lifting drink part, and a little Popper firecracker to pop when they go through the glass ceiling! Everyone sang along and had a blast! We cannot wait to go back and will keep our eyes peeled for another party.
