| - I love having a health food store that sells fresh organic fruits & vegetables near my house. I shopped at this store even before it was renovated a few years ago. It seems as though since the renovations & expansion that the quality of service & product availability has gone downhill. There have been 2-3 times where i have stopped in for a product and found it in 3 different places within 2 sections of where i am looking. They run out of products and cant be bothered to let you know if it will become available again or if it's just been discontinued. The grocery section of the store is very well put together, but the supplements & vitamins look like someone just tossed everything on to the shelves with a "help yourself" attitude. I had to stop shopping at the store for a few months because they didn't want to help me locate a vitamin i was looking for. They also refused to ask their supplier if the product was on back order or just discontinued. The response was "well i ordered it and it didn't come". I had to contact Healthy Planet head office and they were no help on 2-3 occasions and kept telling me to call around to certain stores where they had knowledgeable staff at specific stores for a replacement product. Hmmmm, does that mean the Markham store DOESN'T have knowledgeable staff? In the end i had to call the company that manufactures the vitamin (thankfully in Richmond Hill) and they let me know that all the stores that sell their product ARE all aware that it's on back order. They proceeded to tell me that Healthy Planet would have their shipment in less than a week. When i called back Healthy Planet a week+ later someone argued with me on the phone about the product even after I explained what the supplement manufacturer told me. I asked him to check with his manager and mentioned my name/number were left so that I would be contacted when the product was available. He argued that it wasn't in the book even after I insisted that I did leave it as I usually do when something for my kids is not available. He didn't want to check the shelves for me insisting it wasn't there. I stopped in later that day and sure enough it WAS on the shelf.
i have called several times looking for products and been left on hold so long. When i questioned why, i was told, "well someone else called after you looking for something". So no call priority system in place, like first call is first served while other callers are asked to hold?!? She answered "oh". When i'm looking for something that is out of stock I always leave my name & number especially if it's for my kids, i buy their bath/shampoo products & multi vitamins from Healthy Planet.
If you sell a product for kids that is flying off the shelves, why would you only order 6 bottles per order?!? I always buy 3 myself and if something is sold out or not there, I leave my name & number. Nobody has ever called me to tell me when a product has become available again. Cashiers are not friendly, not sure they even know what a smile is. It's too much of a headache for me, so i buy everything from Abrosia in Thornhill when i'm in the area. They have a super busy store but so many people on the floor and as cashiers to help. Not the case at Healthy Planet.
Really high turn around of staff too. Just when i find someone that is helpful and offering great service, I go back and they no longer work there. Takes so long to find someone to help. I never see more than 2-3 people working there. If i could go in there even 2-3 months in a row and be able to find what i'm looking for, I would've given them 4 stars. Based on lack of service & product availability, I have given them 2. It's disappointing since it's supposed to be one of the better stores in Markham.
