I'm very surprised to read the other reviewer who had such a bad experience here. My husband and I have nothing but good things to say about this place. The outer office staff, the technicians, and especially Dr. Robertson, have been nothing short of amazing in how they have dealt with our little princess - a 14 year old whippet with a heart condition.
We were referred to them by our regular vet at Fletcher Heights Animal Hospital a couple years ago when our girl first fainted and was diagnosed with an enlarged heart. We didn't take the recommendation then because we weren't ready to go to the expense of seeing a cardiologist. She had been doing well on two heart meds for the last year and a half, but on discovering an infected tooth this past January, our regular vet said we needed to have her checked out by a cardiologist to get an EKG and see if she was able to handle surgery. They referred us again to VetMed.
We immediately liked Dr. Robertson. He has a great bedside manner and a very warm, caring demeanor. He discovered a torn valve in the EKG and he recommended some additional meds to lower her heart rate. The Dr. told us she would not withstand surgery and we knew her time with us was limited. She had been ok up until the last two weeks but has started to cough and unfortunately is now in late stage heart failure.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend VetMed to friends and family. VetMed is probably not the least expensive place in town but the quality of care has been outstanding. We have never felt pressured into doing any procedures and, in fact, felt Dr. Robertson is one who does not do anymore than is really warranted. He's also been in close contact with me and responded to my emails with questions regarding our girl's condition. When the time comes to say goodbye, and I fear it will be very soon now, we will take her there.
