  • Formerly known as Cricket Arena, Independence Arena and the original Charlotte Coliseum, this building is a classic and not too many of its kind still around. In Charlotte where it's hard to see history preserved, this is one of my favorite old buildings in the city. It was a great place to see the Charlotte Checkers play before they moved to the TWC arena uptown but it's still a great place to see a concert. I think the acoustics are better here than at the new arena. This arena is a gem and I hope it stays around for a while.
