  • Usually, I don't rate drug stores but this one is specifically bad, so here are my 4 bad experiences at the same store, in different time period. why did I wait so long to rate them? they used to be the only game in town for post office & SDM location, until the new one on Bathurst and New Westminister and the one at Dufferin and Rutherford opened. 1. 2011 - I went there to mail a letter to the Ontario Finance Office for my payroll submission. At that time, they were the only SDM with the post office around my neighbourhood. the young man took my letter and I asked him to post mark it immediately as it is time sensitive. he said yes, but the result was that he postmarked it two days later. I was penalized for $100. 2. 2012 - I went there to purchase a $50 Christmas gift card for my nephew. A month later, my nephew told me that the gift card could not be honoured. So I took the card and my receipt back to the store. they told me that I had to call the Cara Operations myself to deal with it and that was a sad case of poor customer service. 3. 2013 - yes I went there to purchase some stuff and forgot my Optimum card. so I asked if I could bring my card back tomorrow and get the points back. the cashier said that at this store, I have to bring the card back today to get the points. Really? same day. 4. 2015 - today July 14, 2015. I should learn from my mistake but it was the closest SDM and I had to pick up a last minute lipstick before a party. I picked up a lipstick (no service from the Chinese esthetician) and paid at her counter. She processed my transaction in a fairly cold manner (no smile, just do the job type of look). My friend also wanted some stuff so we paid the rest of his merchandise at the front counter. After paying for it, the cashier gave me a special promotion card. I asked her how come I did not get one from the cosmetic purchase. she said only for purchase $10 and over. I showed her my receipt and asked if I could get one from her. She said "no" and I have to get it from the cosmetic department and probably they don't give it out. What kind of service is this? No consistency, No service and No help. I told my friend that this SDM store is poorly managed (or managed by a mean spirited pharmacist - I think I saw him - A Chinese pharmacist because everyone around speaks Cantonese at the cosmetic and pharmacy counter). I am surprised that as a franchisee, he does not carry the same customer focused banner under Loblaw/SDM. Thank God for the stores at Dufferin and Rutherford (great postal service), smiling customer service reps....Better yet, go to Walmart Pharmacy at Yonge and 7. their Chinese pharmacist actually provided me with great suggestions and a smile!
