I was a first timer here for dinner and was less than thrilled with the service and flavor and texture of the food. We were generally left to our own devices, which is fine because this was a new restaurant and they were busy and understaffed. The waiter attempted to make up for it by making small take, asking if I got the reference to the name of one of their 'hipsterfied' cocktails; but it was an awkwardly failed attempt. There was an audible and obvious miscommunication concerning our appetizers. We were seating next to order pick up, and our waiter called the chef 'such a fuckin bitch.' Working in a career where others determine your outcome can be frustrating, but really bruh? A fucking bitch in front of the customers and babies??? He apologized to the chef, who also declined his apology. The food was 'hipstered' up...cool name/description, lack of depth of flavor and odd textures. We orders the 'fried' Brussel sprouts and added bacon. The Brussels sprouts were clearly pan seared and the bacon was the only flavor. Our pork belly came out 40 min later, and the texture was odd. It was accompanied by collard greens that were very acidic and surprisingly delicious pomegranate seeds. The pomegranate seeds were the best thing we ate here. For my main course, I had the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were nice sized, but over cooked and chewy. The grits were hidden under some orange broth and they absorbed the liquid and became very wet. The andouille sausage was overlooked and hard. Atmosphere could be fun, but not worth returning to.
