  • Now that I've discovered AR Workshop, I'm saying goodbye to all of those terrible "paint your own" pictures sitting in the back of my closet that I'm too embarrassed to hang on the wall. Seriously, if you're into the "paint your own", you have to go to this place! Instead of canvas pictures, they have planks, boards and pillows you can paint on that are really nice. First off, the place is super cute. You pick the picture you want to do, pay for it online, and when you show up, they have your boards and templates ready for you. Be prepared to get to work, because you're doing all of the sanding and painting! You get an apron and the paint is water-based, so don't worry if you accidentally get it in yourself. During the class, there is an employee assigned to your table to help you. Ours was great and was helpful in giving us some color recommendations. She also walked around, making sure that we were doing each step right. The results were fantastic. I painted the Charlotte Skyline and I can't wait to hang it in my place! I was there for a birthday, so they sat us all at the same table (make sure you request this if you sign up with multiple people, so you can each pay for your projects, but sit together). There was also a group of women at another table, and a few couples down at the end. You can bring your own snacks and drinks, which I highly recommend. If you live in the center of Charlotte, this place is definitely worth the drive!
