I LOVE a dive! This qualifies in spades. Kinda under the tracks around the way; obscure. You gotta know where you're going. Parking lot has picnic tables. Inside: tight space standing room only (maybe six or so can fit without getting too icky), quintessential divey décor, old signs etc. Ventilation system struggling to keep the smell of cooking food to a minimum. Staff is friendly and attentive. Not a bad idea to call ahead and yes, have cash. I'm trying to talk about all the great dive like qualities they have with out addressing the food. I loved the vibe. Ok. The food? Not so great. The exalted chili? Bland. I detected some black pepper but salt not so much. It was meaty, give credit there. Ground beef cooked up with onions; that's what I saw(you can see them cooking) not much else. Nothing to make it come together. I really liked all about them I experienced in the world of dives, but the food. Just not there. Is it a value? Hard to say. If I want to enjoy it? Not really. There's a place not too far that gives loads of cheap food at ridiculous prices. That's value. No matter how mediocre their service the food is at least seasoned. I really wanted to like this place more. The people and atmosphere seemed just right. The food was just wrong.
