After my brunch in the area, I was looking for a good dirty chai latte and after looking about, I spotted Safehouse just a few metres away on the map. I would have never have spotted it as the current signage is from a previous life. Only a moderate sized lettering gives away that a coffee shop is here. I do think its a solid place for coffee so if youre in the neighbourhood, this is a great stop.
Inside the store, they did a great job taking the old beautiful details and restoring them. Exposed brick, intricate ceiling, and wooded details make this place feel cozy and yet modernized too. The front area has a large bay window and bar seating along the way just for a few people. It was completely packed with laptops when I went. There is a communal table in the back but it just maybe fits 6 really tightly.
We did get a dirty chai latte with almond milk. It was well crafted and though it felt like they used the standard premix chai spices, the balance of milk to espresso to chai tea was good. I wish they just used something more than the typical store bought spice mix.
Overall, cute little spot and worthwhile to stop in if you're ever in the area.
