  • YUM, MMM, AMAZING, DELICIOUS. These were the only words I could get out of my mouth after eating one, two, three of Soma's delicious chocolates. Quite honestly, I was rendered speechless for about 15 minutes afterwards, and all I could do was make little incoherent sounds of pure pleasure. I popped in very briefly here on a Saturday evening just after 8 PM. The place wasn't packed full, but it was definitely pretty busy. Having heard great things about Soma, I decided to try a few chocolates for myself and also their hot chocolate. I am a dark chocolate fan, and this is where Soma definitely shines (I didn't try any milk chocolate pieces though, but I am sure they are great as well!) I tried three pieces: blood orange marzipan pinch, butter caramel with sea salt, and Vietnamese coffee. I loved all three of them, but if I had to pick a favourite I would probably say the Vietnamese coffee, since it combined two flavours I love, dark chocolate and coffee. All of the chocolates they had in the store were beautiful, the flavours were soooo smooth, and they were not too sweet. The caramel with sea salt was also very interesting, the chunks of sea salt on top of the chocolate were very strong and flavourful, but it complimented the chocolate well. Absolutely delicious. They have a ton of other super interesting chocolates, using interesting ingredients like ginger, coconut milk, chili, whisky, etc. I tried some of their hot chocolate as well, and I was blown away. Again, it was a super rich dark chocolate, and I loved that it was not too sweet, and it didn't even feel too heavy. The chocolate flavour seemed 100% natural, and felt so smooth and velvety sliding down my throat. It is a little bit pricey here, with the chocolates being $2 per piece. Also, I do wish they had more seating space inside the store, since I would have loved to sit here for a bit and enjoy my chocolate and drink. That doesn't stop me from loving this place though, and I am determined to come back again and try some of their other unique chocolate flavours. I also heard that they have gelato (although I don't remember seeing any when I was there, maybe it's just a summer thing?), but I would be super interested in trying some! Can I just say that the way to this girl's heart is through her stomach, and Soma has undeniably won me over. I definitely think I have found my new sweets obsession... move over, macarons...
