| - This complex is the worst place I have ever lived. The day we moved in, we were given an apartment that was nowhere near being ready. After we came back and showed them photos of the apartment they were trying to rent us, They "upgraded" us to another apartment that was also not ready, just a little more ready than the last one. There was still a list on the counter of things that were wrong that someone else left, which I gave to the front desk along with an extensive list of all of the other things that we found wrong with this apartment. Including trash in the kitchen, underwear and trash behind the washer and dryer, a broken fireplace tile, loose cabinet facing, deep potholes under the carpet, a door knob that fell off as soon as it was turned, paint all over the bedroom and bathroom windows... in just a short amount of time, more problems would arise. Several work orders had to be put in for these, some of which were EVENTUALLY fixed, most were NEVER fixed. These included a screen held together by duct tape, the air would hardly blow into the bedroom where my baby slept, the apartment wreaked of smoke every day. Mainly it smelled in the bathroom and in the cabinets but when the neighbors downstairs would smoke inside and outside of their apartment, we could come home from a day at work, our apartment closed up all day and when we would walk in, it smelled as if someone had just smoked a cigarette right in our living room. I have never lived in a smoke free rental. Yet I have never had anything close to the experience I had here.
To top this all off, we spoke to the office manager about putting in our notice. There were so many things wrong with this apartment that we were afraid of getting hit with being the ones to pay for all the repairs. She assured us this wouldn't happen but sure enough I got a letter In the mail about a scratch on the counter that was there before we moved in! They tried to get us to pay to replace the counter but I was able to get the fee removed after contacting the management company. Either this scratch was never noticed because... obviously this apartment was NOT ready to be rented out, or it was supposed to be fixed before we moved in and they thought they could get some extra money out of us. If this scratch was such a big deal then the people before us should have been charged for it and it should have been fixed at that time. Either way, there is some very shady business going on here. The office is full of the rudest, most unhelpful and standoffish people.
I must have been very lucky to have lived in decent apartments my whole life. I learned a lot from my short experience here. In my subsequent apartment searches I've been a lot more thorough in my research and I've steered clear of any place that gives me, what I call, "a Towne Square vibe". Don't make this mistake! If you came across Towne Square apartments in your apartment search, keep driving or keep scrolling. It's not worth the stress.
