I got scammed into getting a solar water heater system in 2012 and I almost immediately regretted it. After the sales pitch it seems like a good idea, and you say you'll think about it but of course there's a limited time model home offer. You say you'll get back to them within a couple days but they get you to sign the contract that you can cancel at any time for the next 3 days. Of course the time slips by and you're already rolling downhill towards your fate.
Since I had a gas water heater, now I have 2 gigantic water heaters in my carport - both of which will have to be moved when I build onto my house. I guess one of them is supposed to be a back up. The solar panel will also have to be moved when I fix the roof (supposedly they'd come out and move it as needed for no additional cost but I doubt it). I have noticed no difference in my gas or electric bills and every time I look at the big old blight on my roof I think about how I got scammed into doing this.
The model home thing is a scam by the way - they posted no sign, they had no showings, it's just a way to get you to think it's a limited time offer. Lame.
Maybe this isn't a huge waste and I'll get some of the investment back on resale. Maybe they'll come out and move all my stuff as promised for no additional cost. Maybe I'll give them more stars.
